If so, you should back your data up elsewhere. Your data is not yours.My account was banned without any warning or justified reasoning on Dec 1 2025. I have quickly appealed following, to no avail. Very likely my life's work will be buried, paying off for a mistake not of my own. I am fortunate to have my files still on my machine, but many are left unable to complete their studies, unable to work, or even unable to show for a job interview. Support is reported to take up to 5 months to correct their issue. You could be starving and they do not care. They are not required to.
This the fault of corporate incompetence. Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub and hence resignation of its CEO marks an alarming downfall of the platform. Microsoft's push toward AI use is the start of a new era of enshittifcation, behind its glamorous vision are many souls affected by its greed.
My message is not an act of fraustrated outburst, but a genuine concern for those affected. Should my account be reinstated, I will leave the message up on this website and my account urging everyone to take back ownership of their own data.
